Stress Management for Extremely Busy People and Dummies
A one day seminar to understand and deal with the REAL CAUSES of your stress.
.
Did you know that no other person,
event or circumstance
is responsible for your stress?
.
Stress is the reaction of your organism to the PERCEPTION of a threat.
The ‘fight or flight’ response is a reflex of avoidance or aggressiveness in the face of danger we have inherited from animals.
The problem is that whether the threat we perceive is real or not doesn’t make any difference to our brain which reacts with the same patterns of avoidance or aggression.
Most of the threats we perceive are only ‘potential’: worrying for the future, being stuck in a traffic jam and afraid of being late, competition, comparison or subtle feelings of jealousy. We end up unnecessarily burning our energy, generating tension and hurting ourselves and people around us.
LIBERATE Your Mind
Although it is still commonly believed that a certain amount of stress is beneficial for peak performance, the reality is that stress inhibits thinking.
When it is under the influence of threat, the brain ‘downshifts’ to reflex or primitive behaviour and we lose part or all of the knowledge and skills we have acquired. This is the ‘exam blank’ most students experience at least once in front of their exam paper.
Because stress is largely produced by what we suspect might happen, what we think is likely to happen, or what we imagine could happen, learning to think more objectively, cultivating a positive self-image and a meaningful and confident vision is the only real remedy to heal and transform our stress.
